Since July, during the longest lockdown NSW has endured, CatholicCare Sydney has been raising awareness of the most important issues direct from the community into your homes. Hosting monthly webinars with professionals from the field, we have been highlighting the issues from the front line that arise from CatholicCare’s wide range of work.
The topics that have been discussed so far cover:
Talking Families – How vulnerable families are affected by COVID
With the majority of the NSW community experiencing some levels of lockdown in the past 12 - 18 months, CatholicCare experts in the field met to discuss the impact COVID has and is having on vulnerable families across Sydney.
Talking Homelessness – Can we end street sleeping?
With guests from the End Street Sleeping Collaboration, NSW Dept of Communities and Justice, and Vinnies, this topic discussed the issue of homelessness and answered the question, can we end street sleeping?
Talking Children in Out of Home Care – What do they need?
In this panel discussion we were joined by experts in the field of foster care from Family Spirit and heard life experience from an active foster carer to talk about exactly what children in care need.
Talking Communities – Building resilience
This discussion aimed to understand how resilient our community actually is through times of adversity in the workplace, in our schools, and at home in the community, with guests from AccessEAP, CatholicCare’s Communities of Care program and an active school counsellor.
Talking Problem Gambling - New treatment options
In this session we discussed how treatments are being complemented by a suite of wrap-around support services that address many social issues affecting gamblers and their families, ranging from domestic violence and alcohol to financial insecurity and homelessness.
Each webinar discussion is recorded and available to view on our website. We look forward to bringing even more topics to the table in 2022 and hope you will join us.
